Bianca Andreescu Withdraws from Australian Open 2020 From Knee Injury

Disappointing breaking news as reigning US
Open champion Bianca Andreescu will miss the first major of the year as she continues to
recover from a knee injury sustained in the WTA Finals in Shenzen. Andreescu announced the news on Twitter saying,
“Hey guys, just wanted to give you a little update on my knee rehab after I got injured
at the WTA finals in Shenzhen. My rehab is going well, I feel better and
stronger every day but after discussing it with my team and following the recommendation
of the doctors, the Australian Open is unfortunately too soon in my rehab process and I sadly will
not be able to play in it this year. It was a very tough decision to make as I
love to play in Melbourne but I have to respect the recuperation plan for my knee and body. I can’t wait to come back to Aus soon. The 19-year old and world number 4 reached
the Second round of the Aussie Open in 2019, falling to Sevastova. Andreescu isn’t a stranger to injuries for
last year she missed basically the entire clay and grass court season due to shoulder
injury. This was definitely disappointing to see as
many including myself picked Bibi to go far in Melbourne, but for now I wish her the best
and hope that she can be ready for her title defense at Indian Wells. Focusing on current WTA action, we have an
All-American final in Auckland as Serena Williams and Jessica Pegula will face off for their
first title of the new decade. Serena reached her 4th consecutive tournament
final in emphatic form dominating 18-year old Amanda Anisimova 6-1 6-1 in 42 minutes,
her quickest completed match victory to date. Serena is also in the doubles final with close
friend Wozniacki, and we were close having a Serena Caroline Final in singles, but a
comeback from Pegula halted these hopes. In Brisbane, Karolina Pliskova and Madison
Keys headline a blockbuster final, and in Shenzhen we already have our first champ of
2020 with Ekaterina Alexandrova claiming her maiden tour title. What are your thoughts of Andreescu’s withdrawal. Will she regain her slam winning form by Indian
Wells? Also who do you think will take the titles
in Auckland and Brisbane? Leave your thoughts in the comment section

  1. It seems that Andreescu doesn´t have the body for playing tennis. She is just 19 yo and has so many injuryes! If she goes on with tennis she may end up as a invalide. Is she trained wrong?
